The Value of incorporating Artistic Concepts into the Performance of a Song – By Scott Davi

When a singer has a defined character, story, or context for a song in mind, they are more likely to portray and express these elements to the audience when singing.

This mode of performance greatly enhances the realism and impact of the performance, which engages the audience.

These elements are expressed through the singer’s use of vocal color and inflection, facial expression (especially the eyes), and the movement and positioning of the body.

Simply stated: Give the audience more than just sound, i.e. notes and words - Invite them to experience the emotions, physical movement, sights, sounds, and characters that are referenced in the song.

"What you think is what they get!"
